Performance Rights Group BMI applauded songwriter Ashley Monroe for co-writing Jason Aldean's latest number one hit, "The Truth," at a recent party at BMI's Nashville headquarters. "The Truth" is Monroe's first number one.
Aldean, clad in his trademark faded jeans, checkered shirt and ball cap, showed up to the festivities just before they started. He was presented with a certificate of achievement from a representative for Country Music Broadcasters, who stated that "The Truth" has been played in excess of 80,000 times on country radio, which translates into nearly 600 million audience impressions.
Aldean said he first listened to a demo of the song in his car after getting a copy of it from his producer, Michael Knox.
"From day one it was my favorite song on the record," Aldean reportedly said.
The song is the singer's third number one in the past 10 months.
